Here are 5 essential tips for perfect embroidery on a domestic or industrial embroidery machine.

1. Choose the right hoop.

The frame supports the fabric during embroidery, preventing it from stretching or forming wrinkles. Use:

  • Lightweight fabric: heat-seal or water-soluble stabilizer.
  • Mesh or stretch fabric: cuttable stabilizer to prevent deformation.
  • Thicker fabrics: tearable stabilizer may work well.
2. Correct adjustment of thread tension.

Inadequate tension can cause pulling or looping. To test:

  • Do a test embroidery and see if the upper and lower thread are balanced.
  • The bobbin thread should not appear at the top.
  • Adjust the tension according to the type of thread and fabric.
3. Firm fixation of the fabric in the frame.

The fabric must be well stretched on the frame, but without excess tension so as not to deform. For a good fit:

  • Tighten the hoop screw securely.
  • Use temporary adhesive for extra fixation if necessary.
